The Trust is developing an eight bedded Enhanced Care Unit for women at Audrey House on the Kingsway Hospital site in Derby.
This is a new service for Derbyshire and will sit between Adult Acute inpatient services and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Due to the smaller number of women who require a PICU bed, it is not viable to develop a female PICU within the county, so the Enhanced Care Unit facility will provide an increased level of support for women. This pioneering step for the Trust demonstrates how we respond to the needs of the community.
The unit will take a person-centred approach to therapeutic interventions. All rooms are single and en-suite, improving privacy and dignity.
