Information on the AstraZeneca vaccine
At the Kingsway Hospital, you will receive the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. This is sometimes called the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine or the Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine.
The national Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has published information about this vaccine on the gov.uk website. Please read this information if you have any questions or concerns about the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Side effects of the vaccine
Like all medicines, the vaccine can cause side effects. The MHRA explains on the gov.uk website that, in clinical studies with the vaccine, most side effects were mild to moderate in nature and resolved within a few days with some still present a week after vaccination. The MHRA advises that, if side effects such as pain and/or fever are troublesome, medicines containing paracetamol can be taken.
If you experience side effects after having the vaccine, please visit the MHRA's yellow card reporting site. Here you can report these side effects, to ensure the vaccine is used effectively.
If you are worried about your health, please speak to your doctor, pharmacist or contact NHS 111.

Getting to the vaccination hub
The vaccination hub, or Hospital Hub as we are calling it, is located in the Ashbourne Centre.
When you arrive at the hospital site, look for the black and yellow signs for the ‘Hospital Hub’ and ‘Hub parking’.
Parking
Please park in the main hospital car park, which is on the right as you first enter the hospital site. (Those with a Blue Badge for disabled parking will be provided with separate instructions.)
There is a barrier on entry to the car park. This barrier should be raised. If it is not, please press the button at the barrier and explain that you have come for your COVID-19 vaccination. Parking is free of charge.
From there, you will see signs directing you to the Hospital Hub. You will walk back down past the car park, across the road at the zebra crossing and down a path that leads you to the hub.
Please do not park on one of the side-roads around the hospital, or in an area that is marked with double yellow lines – you may be issued with a penalty notice.
We have created a simple video that walks colleagues through the route from where you enter the site by car and then how you walk from your car to the Hospital Hub for your vaccination.
