Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to confirm the appointment of Andrew Harkness as a new Non-Executive Director (NED).
Andrew is a pharmacist and Consultant in Public Health by background. He has extensive experience of leading public health programmes, addressing health inequalities and improving the health and wellbeing of local communities. Andrew has significant experience of working in senior roles across the NHS and local authorities, and was most recently Chief Executive at St Giles Hospice, near Lichfield.
Selina Ullah, Trust Chair, said “I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the Trust’s Board of Directors. Andrew has a wealth of experience, gained through a variety of roles in the public sector and local charities. He brings a welcome skillset to the Board, which will support our focus on reducing health inequalities, as outlined in our new Trust Strategy.”
Andrew’s appointment was confirmed by the Trust’s Council of Governors, following a recruitment process that took place in December 2024. He starts in post as a member of the Board of Directors on Monday 13 January 2025, for a three-year term of office.

My ambition is to ensure that people access the right care and services, in the right place at the right time. The services provided by the Trust are crucial in achieving this and for supporting the health and wellbeing of local people”.
