Today (Tuesday 11 July), Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust restated its commitment to the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant for a second time.
Mark Powell, the Trust’s Chief Executive, signed the Covenant with Lieutenant Commander Jennifer Sanderson, Executive Officer from HMS Sherwood, to demonstrate the Trust’s intention to ensure that those who serve or have served in the armed forces will continue to be treated fairly by the Trust.
The Trust first signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2018 and has put in place several measures to make sure that serving personnel, veterans, reservists and service families receive support from the Trust, whether as employees or as patients using our health services. The introduction of these measures has been overseen by the Trust’s armed forces staff network.
Mark Powell said: “I am extremely proud to be signing the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of Derbyshire Healthcare and renewing our pledge of support to the armed forces community.
“We are committed to supporting members of our armed forces, past and present.
“We recognise their dedication in providing safety and security to the nation, and we are committed in turn to ensuring they receive the support needed. Our re-signing of the Covenant today confirms this.”
