School Nurses are responsible for delivering the Healthy Child Programme for five to 19 year olds. This is a government policy developed to improve health and well being.

That means we are responsible for...

  • ‘Drop in’ sessions for young people in secondary schools.

We also offer advice and support around:

  • General health

  • Child development

  • Diet

  • Emotional health and wellbeing

  • Toileting support

  • Behaviour support

  • Oral health

  • Sexual health

  • Self harm

  • Body image

  • Eating disorders

  • Drugs and alcohol

  • Smoking.

We can also refer and signpost children and young people to specialist services if required.
