6-12 Month Health & Development Review

During this time your child’s health and development will be assessed by a member of the Health Visiting Team. Prior to your appointment you will be asked to complete a developmental screening questionnaire.

Parents and caregivers are involved in monitoring the development of their children. An ages and stages questionnaire is used to screen and monitor milestones and support parents in developing progress and celebrating developmental milestones.

The screening will enable us to identify if there are any developmental concerns and allow early intervention. We can support you with play based activities to enable your child to meet their individual potential. This may involve referring to other services to support you and your child’s individual needs.

Between 6 and twelve months your child will be becoming more mobile, This means that there could be things in your home that are dangerous to your child such as cleaning products, medicines and blind cords.

Dental Care is important to start around this age, as soon as the first tooth breaks through, you should start brushing the tooth.  Using a toothbrush can also help with pain when teething.
