Derby Health Visiting Services

2 Year Flying Start

Did you know your 2 year old may be entitled to up to 15 hours of free childcare every week.  This could be at a Nursery, Play Group, Pre-School or with Registered Childminder.

Why?

This can help your child to get ready for school, learn new social skills, make friends and learn in a structured environment.  It can also give you chance to learn how to help your child, go back to work, meet new people or take up some educational courses.

If your household income is less then £16,190 per annum or your child is a looked after child, or has a disability you are eligible to apply.

If you get at least one of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance
  • Help from the National Asylum Support Service
  • Pension Credit Child Tax Credits or Working Tax Credits where your income is below £16.190

If you are not eligible, everyone is entitled to free learning from the term after your child is 3 until they start school.
