2 to 2.5 Year Health and Development Review

During this time your child’s health and development will be assessed by a member of the Health Visiting Team.  Prior to your appointment you will be asked to complete a developmental screening questionnaire.

Eating Healthy

By now your child should be eating a wide variety of food.  It is important to help your child to eat healthy, as this will shape their food choices as they grow.  You can get more information and some recipes ideas from HENRY and there are many more resources available online.  If you are having problems with eating then talk to your health visitor who can advise you on this.

Toilet Training

It might be time to start thinking about toilet training.  There are a number of signs to look for to find out if your child is ready:

  • They know when they've got a wet or dirty nappy
  • They get to know when they're passing urine and may tell you they're doing it
  • The gap between wetting is at least an hour (if it's less, potty training may fail and at the very least will be extremely hard work for you)
  • They know when they need to wee and may say so in advance.

Speak to your health visitor at your review if you need any advice, also ERIC is a good resource for advice and support.

NHS Choices also has some tips on successful toilet training.
