We support children and young people, and their families and carers, in lots of different ways. Some of our work takes place in the city of Derby; some takes place in Derby and southern parts of Derbyshire; and some across the whole of Derbyshire.
In Derby...
We support children and young people aged 0 to 18 through our family health services. Our health visitors work with families with young children, helping mums and dads to raise happy, healthy kids. Our school nurses and public health nurses work with older children and their families, carrying out health reviews and offering advice and information.
In Derby and southern Derbyshire...
We provide mental health services for children and young people. These are sometimes called CAMHS - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. These services help children and young people who are feeling very anxious, stressed or low. There is also support for young people with eating disorders and young people with a learning disability.
We also run a number of services for children and young people with complex needs. This means they may need a number of different types of support at the same time. Or they may need a very special type of care. These services include:
- Support for children in care and adoption
- Support for children with neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD and autism
- Support for children with complex disabilities.
Across the whole of Derbyshire...
We offer perinatal (mother and baby) mental health services. We offer these in the community, with visits to people's homes, and in a hospital unit called The Beeches.
