Developing a comprehensive psychiatric liaison service at Royal Derby Hospital

Royal Derby Hospital
Royal Derby Hospital

In October of last year an engagement event was held where Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, the Royal Derby Hospital staff and local commissioners met to explore a new way of delivering liaison psychiatry input based on a model developed in Birmingham known as RAID Rapid Assessment Interface and Discharge.) The day was very successful and the outcomes helped to influence the Business Case on behalf of the 2 Trust’s, that was submitted for commissioner’s consideration.

The 2 Trusts are now working together towards an implementation strategy and the future role out of a service. To date we have called this a RAID service. However we would be interested in views and opinions as to what we could consider naming the team. The service is based on a 24/7 availability of a liaison psychiatric service integrated in the acute hospital setting,  providing input on adult mental health issues, managing confusion and delirium and also substance misuse.

We will in the near future be publicising the launch of the service but would welcome your ideas to present to the RAID Project Board as to a name for the team. For suggestions as to a name please email Keith Waters (keith.waters@derbyshcft.nhs.uk) or Paul Sample (paul.sample@derbyshcft.nhs.uk)
