Derbyshire Healthcare statement: NHS-wide network issues

Update: 15 May 2017 - 4.00pm

Due to the current pressures being experienced by partners working across the NHS, please be aware that if you need a repeat prescription, you can currently speak to your local pharmacist about this.

Update: 15 May 2017 - 12.00noon

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is continuing to put arrangements in place to protect Trust systems from the cyber-attack that has affected the wider NHS since Friday.

The Trust has not been infected by this virus. However we have put precautionary measures in place to ensure the safety of our systems.

Electronic patient records are running and clinical services are operating as usual. However Trust staff do not currently have access to email or the intranet. Alternative mechanisms of communication between staff have been put in place during this time.

We are asking all Trust staff to attend one of the Trust premises as soon as possible to connect their IT equipment to the network.

Update: 13 May 2017 - 10.00pm

Our IT staff have been working throughout the day with Arden & GEM Commissioning Support Unit to make completely sure that our systems are protected.

We have now begun to reconnect our systems to the internet, starting with our patient records systems.

As a precautionary measure, we are continuing for now to keep our email system offline. This means our staff are not currently receiving emails.

We would like to once again thank service users, carers and partner agencies for their patience during this time.

12 May 2017 - 7.00pm

A number of NHS organisations have reported to NHS Digital that they have been affected by a ransomware attack.

This attack was not specifically targeted at the NHS and is affecting organisations from across a range of sectors.

At this time Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has not been directly affected. As a precautionary measure, we have isolated a number of our IT systems from the internet and from external organisations, to keep our systems safe.

NHS Digital is working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Department of Health and NHS England to support affected organisations and ensure patient safety is protected.

Derbyshire Healthcare's response to temporarily isolate systems is currently helping to prevent a direct cyber-attack.

Clinical teams are contacting service users, carers and out-of-hours agencies to keep them aware of the current situation.

Thank you for your patience and support.
