New governors take their seats on the Council

We are pleased to announce the appointment of four new governors to our Council of Governors.

Public Chesterfield South – Sharon Bull
Sharon is a motivational speaker, whose key aim is to draw on her own personal experiences to help, inspire and motivate as many people possible in regards to wellbeing, understanding and recovery.

Public Erewash North – Martin Smith
Martin has spent many years in the NHS, in varying roles from Portering Manager to Security Manager. He currently works as a Support Worker, working with adults who have mental health needs.  Martin aims to use the experience from his previous roles to guide decisions in his role as governor.

Public North East Derbyshire – Rob Quick
As a nurse, Rob has been associated with the NHS all his working life, leading to his retirement in 2013.  He now works part time as a Regional Advisor for the HCSA (Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association).  Rob has lived in North East Derbyshire for the past 15 years.

Staff Nursing and Allied Professions – April Saunders
April is an experienced senior Occupational Therapist working in the community in North Derbyshire. She is passionate about recovery; to enable and empower patients to take control of their life and well-being.  April would like to make positive changes for the people she cares for and the team she works within, through her role as a staff governor.

After gaining Foundation Trust status in 2011, Derbyshire Healthcare made a commitment to represent its communities as effectively as possible and promote public awareness of health issues. Having trust members – represented by elected governors – is a key way for Derbyshire Healthcare to involve local people in the organisation’s work and ensure that it provides the best possible care and treatment for the people it serves.

Mark Todd, Chairman, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Sharon, Martin, Rob and April into the Council. Our governors have a very important role to play within our organisation and actively contribute to the continuing success of the foundation trust. I am very much looking to forward to working alongside our new governors individually, for their respective constituencies, and as part of the full Council of Governors.”
